212: I keep it simple.
Álvaro Camacho
Can you PLEASE tell me the area code for Caracas, Venezuela?
The area code for Caracas, Venezuela is 212.
Our school educates, researches, promotes, and shares. "212" is a virtual space focused on photography based in Caracas, featuring the work of both local and non-local artists. This platform aims to bring together various photographic genres, age groups, techniques, and perspectives, all connected by a shared love for photography.
- What does fashion owe to photography, and what does photography owe to fashion?
Photography has given fashion the ability to reach everyone. Without photos, clothes would only be seen by a selected few on a runway, but thanks to images, trends become universal. And vice versa: fashion has inspired photography to be more creative, to play with colors, textures, and emotions. Together, they create magic.
- How important is pre-production to you?
For me, planning is key. It's like cooking: if you have the ingredients ready and know what you want to make, everything flows. Talking to the team, choosing the location, or testing out some ideas beforehand helps me avoid problems on the day of the shoot. That way, when I get to take the photos, I can focus on letting my creativity flow and taking the moment.
- What led you to choose fashion photography as your creative path? Was there a key moment or project that marked a turning point in your career?
Fashion is identity, and photography is its mirror. When I did my first shoot and saw I could mix everything, tell stories, and play with reality, I realized, "I don't photograph clothes, I photograph the person wearing them... and I haven't found that magic in other genres."
-How do you define your approach to fashion photography?
I like to keep it simple: photos that feel real, but with a touch of fantasy, portraying fashion in a fresh way, playing with colors and emotions.
I don't just seek to show clothes, but to convey something: confidence, fun, or even a small revolution.
- If you had to pick, what would be your preference when photographing: artificial or natural light, flash or continuous light, and DSLR or mirrorless, fixed lens or zoom?
It depends on the project.
-What do you prefer when photographing and why (choose one to explain)?
I don't have a defined format, I think I adapt depending on the project, essay or client, in reality I just like taking photos hehehe.
